About the role
The Senior Podiatrist will deliver a specialist clinical podiatry service independently to clients in various Cape York communities with a focus on ‘high risk foot’ problems. The role will also include delivering generalist podiatry services inclusive of health promotion and preventative strategies to the wider community. The position will be based in Cairns with frequent outreach visits to the five Cape York communities of Aurukun, Coen, Kowanyama, Lockhart River and Pormpuraaw. Outreach services will be provided via commercial and charter light aircraft from Cairns on a regular basis. Face to face services will be complimented by the provision of telehealth and virtual care services.
What your week could look like?
Monday: Office Admin Day
Tuesday – Thursday: Fly to Cape York communities
Friday: Office Admin Day (early finish), fly back home
Weekends: Enjoy your weekend at home or Explore Cairns
** option for 2 weeks work and 1 week off roster
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide evidence-based podiatry services especially around patients with high-risk foot and diabetic.
- Podiatry assessment, planning and evaluating interventions for clients with chronic and complex health conditions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary team.
- Complete timely and accurate documentation.
To be successful in the role you will have:
- Bachelor of Podiatry (or equivalent)
- Current general AHPRA registration (essential)
- Australian working rights (essential)
- Australian drivers’ licence
- National Police Clearance
- Min 5 years’ experience in the field
