About the role:
The Payroll Manager oversees a team of 13, ensuring accurate and timely payroll for all employees. Responsibilities include managing payroll operations, ensuring labor law compliance, and optimizing payroll systems. The team, organized into three groups, processes up to 12,000 pays per period, covering both a high-volume weekly casual payroll and a fortnightly administrative payroll.
Key requirements include:
- Facilitate the end-to-end management of the company-specific payroll and billing system, partnering with the accounts receivable team to ensure precision and integrity of payroll data to produce accurate client billing.
- Ensure that timesheets are received, accurately entered and paid in accordance with agreed timeframes.
- Support and advise the Head of Finance Operations and Transformation with regular updates of payroll operations and improvements as well as coordinate strategic financial projects as required
- Ensure that the payroll system supports all processing requirements so that weekly and fortnightly pays are processed accurately and on time.
- Oversee and advise on the management of all specific payroll transactions including allowances, salary sacrifice, parental leave payments, long service leave etc.
- Oversee the preparation and distribution of annual payment summaries.
- Support and coach the team by responding and resolving payroll enquiries and issues that may be escalated from nurses, employees, managers, clients and local business contacts
- Maintain a high standard of conduct and work performance to promote Healthcare Australia’s reputation with key internal and external stakeholders
- Lead and engage the payroll team, ensuring that all team members are adequately mentored and coached and provided with opportunities to enhance and update their knowledge and skills.
- Conduct effective resource planning, prioritisation of work schedules to ensure appropriate resourcing coverage, workload monitoring to minimize disruption to payroll operations
What you will bring to the role:
Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualifications in Payroll or Management related discipline.
- Membership to TAPS
Skills:
- Competent and capable in all areas of payroll processing and maintain up to date knowledge as required.
- Demonstrated leader.
- Ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation.
- Customer service focus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skill including the ability to articulate ideas, present opinions and build strong working relationships with stakeholders.
- Problem solving and analytical skills.
Experience:
- Recognised expertise in Health, Aged or Community sectors
- Minimum 5 years payroll management experience.
- Demonstrated payroll management experience at a senior level.
- Understanding of salary benefits and packaging.
- Demonstrated business process improvement experience.
- Project Management skills – ability to implement new processes and systems.
- Compliance experience.
- Experience utilising payroll systems including 2cloud9 would be ideal.
