About the role
For Critical Care/Intensive Care – When anyone suffers a heart attack, stroke, shock, severe trauma, respiratory distress or other severe medical issue, it is absolutely essential that they receive immediate medical care. Critical care nurses are trained to provide this kind of intensive care in settings where patients can be given complex screenings and the highest-level treatment protocols.
For Emergency – usually the first medical practitioner a patient will see when entering the emergency department & when attending to patients and assisting the medical team, you are expected to maintain safety for yourself and others in a high-stress environment
Competitive Salary Package
Paying between $30-$50 er hour depending on increment year and level
What you bring
- Registered Nurse for 3 years with a minimum of 12 months Intensive Care or Emergency
- Desirable a Grad Dip in Intensive Care Or Emergency Care
- Current Advanced Life Support
- Essential – a team player who works hard when required but can have fun

Duties and Responsibilities
- Working with other healthcare professionals to assess a patient’s condition and plan and carry out patient care plans
- Treating injuries and/or giving advanced life support
- Assisting doctors in performing a variety of procedures
- Taking, recording and analysing patient vital signs
- Checking that ventilators, monitors and other medical equipment is operating properly
- Providing intravenous fluids and medications
- Ordering a broad range of diagnostic tests
- Working together with other members of the ICU team
- Treating patients based on the latest nursing standards and urgent care protocols
- Acting as empathetic patient advocate
- Supporting and educating patients and their families
- Critical Care Nurses may also provide care for pre and post-operative patients
- Assess patient symptoms and prioritise based on triage principles
- Identify the medical problem and refer to appropriate medical services
- Document medical history, medication and allergies
- Administer medication, take blood samples, and insert IV’s
- Clean and bandage wounds
- Provide support to patients’ families regarding treatment, recovery, or end of life
