FAQs

Got questions? You’re not alone

We know immunisations can feel a bit confusing or overwhelming, especially if you’re not sure what you need or what to expect. Here are some common questions to help guide you.

Are immunisations safe?

Yes. Immunisations used in Australia are thoroughly tested and continuously monitored to ensure they are safe and effective. This includes various stages of clinical trials and testing of ingredients. Vaccines that don’t meet quality and safety criteria do not get approval and are not available for use.

How do vaccines work?

Vaccines protect us by using our body’s natural defences to build resistance to specific infections before we come into contact with them. Vaccines give protection without causing disease. They are safer than getting the disease itself.

Do I need to book a clinic?

Yes, booking is recommended to secure your place at a community immunisation clinic. Some sessions may allow walk-ins, but availability can vary.

What if myself or my child are behind on immunisations?
