National Incentive Programs
HCA National Rewards Program
- With HCA’s National Rewards program you can earn exciting rewards simply by working.
- Rewards are unlocked based on number of hours worked.
- The incentive program runs from 1st January 2023 00:00 AEST until 31st December 23:59 AEST 2023
- Applies to all employees registered and hours worked with participating divisions*
- Your total hours counted towards the HCA National Rewards Program accrues on submission of approved timesheets. Timesheets must be submitted within 14 days of placement completion.
- To remain active in the rewards, program a minimum of 1 shift must be worked within 12 weeks. Your total hours accrued for the rewards program will be reset to zero with no activity.
- Your total hours accrued towards the rewards program will expire if employment is deactivated with no activity or terminated.
- Candidate must be active to claim rewards.
- Rewards programs hours are transferrable between participating divisions*
- The onus is on the employee to redeem the reward.
- Once a reward is redeemed the corresponding hours required for your nominated reward is subtracted from your total hours counted towards the HCA National Rewards Program.

National Refer a Friend Program
Our acclaimed Refer A Friend program just got bigger! We’ve expanded the eligibility criteria so that all HCA field staff are included. Even better for each successful referral you will both receive a reward.
- The ‘National Refer a Friend’ program runs from 30th November 2022 12:00 am AEST until Friday 31st December 2023 11:59 am AEST
- When the referred candidate is an RN, EN, RM or Theatre Staff, both the referred candidate and the referring employee will receive $500.
- When the referred candidate is an AIN or PCA, both the referred candidate and the referring employee will receive $250.
- This means that:

- If an EN or AIN/PCA refers an RN, RM and Theatre staff then they receive $500 as well as the referred candidate
- If an RN, RM and Theatre staff refers an AIN/PCA, EN then they receive $250 as well as the referred candidate
- A referred candidate is either a new employee to HCA or associated brands or has not worked a shift within 2 years.
- The referrer must be deemed an active employee who has worked a contract or shift within the last 12 weeks to be eligible
- Referrals are recognised nationally. The referred candidate can work in a different participating division from the referee e.g. Referee can be working in WA (WANA) but refer a candidate who wants to work in metropolitan NSW (NAA NSW)*
- The referee mentions your name at the interview for our record-keeping purposes and the validity of the referral or the referrer is introduced via our website. Later notification of the referral may result in the reward not being offered
- The reward is offered to both referee and referrer once the referred candidate works 100 hours within 90 days of starting work with HCA or on completion of a 6-week placement with our Rural and Remote team
- The onus is on the referrer and referee to notify HCA once they have reached 100 hours and are eligible for their bonus.

HCA 3/6 Month Metro Agreement Incentive
- Registered Nurses & Midwives who are accepted for and then successfully complete a 3 or 6 month metro agency placement will be entitled to $500 travel voucher (or a $600 cash payment) at the completion of the first 3 months and at the completion of 6 month placement would be entitled to an additional $1000 cash payment
- The HCA 3/6 Month Metro contract incentive is applicable for placements COMMENCED between 00:00 AEST 1st January 2022 to 23:59 AEST 31 December 2023. All mentions to the ‘dates of the incentive’ refer to these dates.
- Terms and conditions of this promotion may be amended by Healthcare Australia at any time.
- To qualify for the HCA 3/6 Month Metro contract incentive the candidate must successfully complete a minimum placement of 3 months averaging 30 hours per week during the agreed incentive dates.
- This incentive cannot be combined with any other incentive or offer run by HCA with the exception of the ‘Refer a friend’ , HCA’s National Rewards Program, International Free Flight Incentive. All Ts & Cs for these incentives must be met to be eligible.

- The candidate must be eligible to work in Australia, hold AHPRA Registration and be registered with HCA to participate
- Healthcare Australia has no obligation to candidates who do not comply with these terms and conditions

- Candidates who do not complete their placements successfully or fail to meet the Ts & Cs of the placement agreement may have their incentive claim rejected.

Rural and Remote Incentives
Do the NT and WA – End of Placement Bonus
- For all new contracts that commence between 1st November 2023 to 18th December 2023 (placements secured b/w 23/10/2023- 11/12/2023) will qualify for a successful completion of placement bonus!
- The bonus is designed to support our valued workforce with additional compliance costs or travel/accommodation expenses that may be incurred in relation to these placement opportunities.
- Start your placement in November or December and successfully complete a minimum 6 weeks in a NT Health (DOH hospital or TERHS/CARHS) or WA Health facility (via Shift Match) and qualify for an end of placement bonus capped at $1,000.00
- Applicable tax deductions will apply as prescribed by the ATO.
- The promotion must be identified in the candidate temporary placement agreement to confirm the candidate may be eligible pending successful completion of placement.
- Candidates can only claim the bonus once they have completed their placements in entirety, should a candidate vacate placement and not complete the full placement per the dates identified on their TPA for any reason will not qualify for this bonus.
- The offer is only valid for Registered Nurses and Midwives who are on a placement at eligible facility in the NT per the promotion’s dates.
- The candidate must be 100% compliant with the health services credentialling requirements for the duration of placement to remain eligible for the bonus.
- This promotion is not valid with any other offers/promotions unless approved by HCA.
- HCA Reserves the right to extend or end this promotion at any time.
Travel FREE with HCA Rural & Remote
Eligible HCA Rural & Remote candidates will receive free travel to and from their minimum 6-week placements in Australia. Continue reading to see the specific terms and conditions for travel within Australia, as well as what’s on offer if you’re coming to placement from New Zealand or another international destination:
Free National Travel with Rural and Remote
For our candidates residing in Australia, HCA has your travel covered for 6+ week placements. Whether it’s flights, fuel, buses, or trains – we’ve got you sorted.
- The ‘Free National Travel with Rural and Remote’ incentive is effective from 00:00 AEST 1st January 2023 to 23:59 AEST 31st December 2023. All mentions to the ‘dates of the incentive’ refer to these dates.
- This incentive is available to all HCA Rural & Remote candidates with a place of residence in Australia, according to our database, and commencing their placement within the dates of the incentive.
- The candidate must be eligible to work in Australia, hold AHPRA Registration with no restrictions and be registered with HCA to participate (if unsure about the process please contact our Rural and Remote Team. They will assist candidates in being work ready).
- To qualify for this incentive the candidate must successfully complete a minimum placement of 6 weeks.
- Travel refers to all en-route travel WITHIN AUSTRALIA – fuel (equivalent to Best Fare of the Day and identified in candidate agreement) OR flights (economy class only) OR public transport and applicable en–route taxis ONLY from the candidate’s closest airport to the placement location and return to the same airport. Enroute taxis and excess baggage reimbursement is capped at $80 per placement.
- Within Australia, travel is to be booked by the consultants. In the case of a candidate needing to book their own travel and transport, this will need to be approved by their consultant before booking.
- All travel must be in the name of the candidate.
- The candidate must submit their travel claims to HCA within 14 days of successful placement completion.
- Once all documentation has been received and approved by HCA, the candidate will be reimbursed for their travel within 21 days as per reimbursement guidelines in accordance with Best Fare of the Day identified in candidate agreement.
- Healthcare Australia has no obligation to candidates who do not comply with these terms and condition
- Travel entitlements apply to specified placement ONLY, as outlined in the candidate agreement.
- Upon signing the candidate agreement all travel is final. After this point any changes to travel will be the candidates sole financial responsibility
- This includes changes to travel post confirmation of itinerary. Any changes will be at the candidates cost
- Travel must be completed within 7 days of the end date of the placement, after such time it is the candidate’s financial responsibility to arrange their travel home. HCA will not be obligated to provide any financial travel assistance after this time.
- Candidates who do not meet the criteria of HCA travel policy will have their claim rejected.
- Candidates who do not meet HCA’s compliance requirements will not have travel booked and may be required to pay back any travel outlaid by HCA or relevant Health Service.
- Candidates who do not complete their placements successfully may have their claim rejected and may be required to pay back any travel outlaid by HCA or relevant Health service.
- Candidates who utilise airline/travel/bank/rewards points for travel bookings related to placements will not be eligible for reimbursement (eg. Qantas Frequent Flyer, NZ Air Points, Flybuys points).
- If travelling internationally please see our ‘Free International Travel with Rural & Remote’ and ‘Free Trans-Tasman Travel with Rural & Remote’ (for NZ) incentives.
- The terms and conditions specified in this ‘Free National Travel with Rural and Remote’ incentive are in conjunction with the ‘HCA Rural & Remote Travel and Accommodation Policy.’
- Terms and conditions of this promotion may be amended by Healthcare Australia at any time.
- Upon signing the candidate agreement all travel is final. After this point any changes to travel will be the candidates sole financial responsibility
Free Trans-Tasman Travel with Rural & Remote
Eligible HCA Rural & Remote candidates who reside in New Zealand will receive free travel to and from Australia for their minimum 8-week placements.
- The ‘Free Trans-Tasman Travel with Rural & Remote’ incentive is effective 00:00 AEST 1st January 2023 to 23:59 AEST 31st December 2023. All mentions to the ‘dates of the incentive’ refer to these dates.
- This incentive is available to all HCA Rural & Remote candidates currently located in New Zealand commencing their placement within the dates of the incentive.
- Candidates who successfully complete a minimum placement of 8 weeks will be eligible to claim reimbursement for flights only from their closest international airport in New Zealand, to their entry port into Australia and return. This is capped at $800 each way.
- Flights within New Zealand are not considered at part of this incentive.
- Upon entering Australia, the standard ‘Free National Travel with Rural and Remote’ incentive will apply.
- If you meet the criteria and work a minimum 6-week placement, but don’t reach the criteria of an 8-week placement, you are eligible for the international travel allowance as stipulated in the ‘Free International Travel with Rural & Remote’ incentive. This is capped at $300 each way to and from New Zealand. Please review this incentive for more details.
- This incentive MAY NOT be used in conjunction with the ‘Free International Travel with Rural & Remote’ promotion.
- Expense reimbursements for International travel will only be reviewed post the successful completion of placement.
- For your claim to be considered the Free Trans-Tasman Travel with Rural & Remote promotion must be identified in your candidate agreement.
- It is the responsibility of the worker to advise us in advance that they will be seeking International travel prior to commencing placement
- Only approved International travel support that is relevant to start and completion of completed R&R placements will be considered. Travel that does not coincide with secured placements meeting the minimum timeframes will be rejected.
- Further if you have travelled to placement from a domestic location, any request to claim international travel post-placement will be rejected
- All compliant reimbursements will be converted to Australian dollars if identified as NZ dollars
- All other Terms & Conditions referenced within the ‘Free National Travel with Rural and Remote’ incentive will apply.
- Terms and conditions of this promotion may be amended by Healthcare Australia at any time.
- All international travel support is at the discretion of HCA and subject to change without notice.
Free International Travel with Rural & Remote
- The ‘Free International Travel with Rural & Remote’ incentive is effective from 00:00 AEST 1st January 2023 to 23:59 AEST 31st December 2023. All mentions to the ‘dates of the incentive’ refer to these dates.
- This incentive is available to all HCA Rural & Remote candidates currently located outside of Australia, and commencing their placement within the dates of the incentive.
- To qualify for this incentive the candidate must successfully complete a minimum 6-week placement.
- The international travel allowance capped at $300 AUD is valid for those candidates living outside Australia that comply with our Free International Travel with Rural & Remote promotion T&C’s. This allowance may be claimed for flights ONLY from the candidate’s home airport to their entry port into Australia and return.
- Upon entering Australia, the standard ‘Free National Travel with Rural and Remote’ incentive will apply.
- Travel to Australia will be booked by the candidate and travel claims will be reviewed post the successful completion of placement.
- For your claim to be considered the Free International Travel with Rural & Remote promotion must be identified in your candidate agreement.
- It is the responsibility of the worker to advise us in advance that they will be seeking International travel prior to commencing placement
- Only approved International travel support that is relevant to start and completion of completed R&R placements will be considered. Travel that does not coincide with secured placements meeting the minimum timeframes will be rejected.
- Further if you have travelled to placement from a domestic location, any request to claim international travel post-placement will be rejected
- This incentive MAY NOT be used in conjunction with the Travel FREE with the Free Trans-Tasman Travel with Rural & Remote.
- All compliant reimbursements will be converted to Australian dollars if identified in another currency
- All other Terms & Conditions referenced within the ‘Free National Travel with Rural and Remote’ incentive will apply.
- Terms and conditions of this promotion may be amended by Healthcare Australia at any time.
- All international travel support is at the discretion of HCA and subject to change without notice.
HCA Rural & Remote Isolation/Quarantine Support Payment
Registered & Enrolled Nurses & Midwives who are accepted for and then successfully complete a minimum 8-week Rural & Remote placement, and are required to self-isolate on their return home (as per government directives), will be entitled to a reimbursement of 50% of the OUTBOUND isolation costs.
- The HCA R&R Isolation/Quarantine Support Payment is applicable for placements COMMENCED between 00:00 AEST 1st January 2022 to 23:59 AEST 31st December 2023. All mentions of the ‘dates of the incentive’ refer to these dates.
- The terms and conditions of this promotion may be amended by Healthcare Australia at any time.
- This incentive is available to all HCA Rural & Remote candidates travelling within Australia or New Zealand ONLY and commencing their placement within the dates of the incentive.
- To qualify for the HCA R&R Isolation/Quarantine Support Payment, the candidate must successfully complete a minimum placement of 8 weeks.
- This incentive MAY be used in conjunction with other R&R incentive programs including Travel Free with HCA, R&R Education Allowance and R&R Refer a Friend. All Ts & Cs for these incentives must be met to be eligible.
- This incentive MAY NOT be used in conjunction with the International Free Flight promotion
- The candidate must advise their consultant of their intent to claim the SINGLE HCA R&R Isolation/Quarantine Support Payment within 14 days of successful placement completion and lodge the claim to the Accounts Department as soon as the tax invoice receipt is available. Claims MUST be finalised no more than 3 months following the completion of the placement.
- The candidate is entitled to claim a maximum of 50% of the standard Australian or New Zealand government-imposed isolation costs as directed by the applicable and current government website at the time of isolation (This includes accommodation & meals).
- If the amount to be reimbursed is not in Australia Dollars (as per the Tax Invoice), the amount reimbursed will be based on the appropriate currency conversion at the time the reimbursement is due to be paid.
- If a candidate can isolate in their own home, no HCA R&R Isolation/Quarantine Support Payment will be paid
- If meals/food are not covered as part of the applicable government-imposed isolation requirements of a candidate’s “home” state, then no additional reimbursement will be applicable for meals/food
- Travel “home” must be completed within 7 days of the end date of the placement, after such time it is the candidate’s full financial responsibility to cover all costs associated with isolation/quarantine. HCA will not be obligated to provide any financial isolation assistance after this time.
- The HCA R&R Isolation/Quarantine Support Payment ONLY applies to OUTBOUND/HOMEBOUND isolation (with the destination being within Australia or New Zealand) and NOT INBOUND/PLACEMENT COMMENCEMENT isolation. If inbound isolation is required, this will be facilitated by HCA on a placement-by-placement basis as different states and clients need to meet different requirements. Out-of-pocket costs may apply.
Healthcare Australia’s Placement Passport’s Golden Tickets Competition
- This competition is run by Healthcare Australia ABN 95 108 180 589.
- The ‘Healthcare Australia Placement Passports Golden Tickets’ starts on 01/04/23 and ends on 31/12/23.
- The monthly prize for each posted competition will be as stated in that month’s post.
- Active and inactive employees of Healthcare Australia’s Rural and Remote division can enter this giveaway.
- Inactive employees are eligible given they have been inactive for no longer than 6 months at the time the winner is announced.
- Entries will be awarded when the eligible employee comments or completes a form on a participating post on the Healthcare Australia Remote and Rural Passport Facebook page.
- Comments must be within the dates shared on the post healthcare worker friends on the official Facebook competition post.
- Comments must address the prompt in the post to be eligible.
- Bonus entries may be awarded for completing certain actions. Please review competition post for further details.
- Further, for your entries to qualify:
- The employee entering the competition must be 18 years old and over.
- If chosen as a winner, before receiving the prize, the winner must be willing to sign a release form and share a photo with the Healthcare Australia marketing team of themselves
- The winner must provide contact details and an address to receive the gift voucher prize.
- The winners will be chosen by the Healthcare Australia Rural and Remote Management Team
- The winners will be contacted by the Healthcare Australia marketing team via phone, SMS, Facebook Messenger or email.
- Dates for when winners are be drawn will be contained in the relevant competition post for each month. This person will be notified the day prior to this date.

International Refer a Friend Program
No longer working with Healthcare Australia as you’ve returned home and can’t participate in our regular Australian Refer A Friend campaign? Healthcare Australia is launching an International Refer a Friend Program.
Are you constantly telling everyone about your great Australian Adventures? Why not refer them to the Healthcare Australian International Team to also have the same experience!
To be eligible, you yourself must have worked a shift with Healthcare Australia during your time in Australia and the referred candidate must be a Registered or Enrolled Nurse, Midwife. Once the candidate has arrived in Australia and worked their first shift with Healthcare Australia we will send you an Amazon Voucher.
Participation in the ‘International Refer a Friend Program’ will be in accordance with the terms and conditions below:

Permanent Refer a Friend Program
- ‘Permanent Refer a Friend Program,’ is applicable for any candidate who successfully obtains a permanent position and completes 12 weeks employment with the client.
- To be eligible as the referee you must refer the persons CV and submit the form with screenshot of your bank account. Then after 12 weeks of employment with the client the referee gets $500 transferred into their bank account from HCA
- Tax and super legislative requirements may apply.
- All T&C’s are at the discretion of HCA.
- HCA reserves the right to extend, change or end this reward program without prior notice.
Doctors referral program

- Refer a Friend is Valid from 17/01/23 to 31/12/23.
- You must be fully registered with Medic Oncall by HCA (active status).
- The referred candidate must be a new candidate, who hasn’t been previously introduced to, or worked for Medic Oncall by HCA.
- The referred candidate must mention your name during the initial contact for our record-keeping purposes and the validity of the referral, later notification of the referral may result in the reward not being offered.
- The referred worker works 10+ shifts ($500 one-off payment to the referrer and referee) within 3 months of their active date.

- The bonus is remunerated via agency payroll.

Refer a Specialist or GP to Medic Oncall and share a bonus of $1,000*

- The “Find a Fellow: Refer a Specialist or GP ” campaign is effective from 01/10/2023 to 01/02/2024.
- Referrers can refer an unlimited number of individuals throughout the campaign.
- Referrers could fall into one of the following:
- Active or inactive members of Medic Oncall.
- Active employees of Healthcare Australia.
- Referrers are entitled to:
- Receive a $500 reward for referring a new candidate who has not previously been associated with or worked for Medic Oncall by HCA.
- Receive a $250 reward for recommending a ‘refresh’ candidate who has previously been associated with or worked for Medic Oncall by HCA but has chosen to re-new their membership.
- Referred candidate must be registered with the referrer’s name by 01/02/2023 for the referrer to be eligible for the referral reward.
- Eligibility criteria for referred candidates include:
- New candidates, with no previous engagement or employment with Medic Oncall by HCA.

- Medic Oncall by HCA reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. If we make changes to these Terms and Conditions, we will notify the participants.
- Referral rewards must be claimed within 3 months of the referral date. Unclaimed rewards after this period will be considered forfeited.
- Any taxes related to the receipt or use of referral rewards are the sole responsibility of the recipient.

Come to Australia to work as an Agency Registered Nurse for Healthcare Australia (HCA) and you can have your flight to Australia paid for (up to the value of $1,000 AUD, T&Cs apply) when you work 500 hours within a 6-month period (before the 31st December 2023) or 600 hours in 6 months (after 1st January 2024)
Terms & Conditions:
- The ‘Free flight to Australia’ incentive runs from 00:00 AEST 28th September 2015 to 23:59 AEST 31st March 2024. All mentions of the ‘dates of the incentive’ refer to these dates.
- These Terms and Conditions are effective from the date specified above and may be amended by Healthcare Australia from time to time.
- This incentive is only available to Registered Nurses who have not previously worked for HCA. You must be eligible to work in Australia as a Registered Nurse and register with HCA as an Agency Registered Nurse (if you are unsure about the process please contact your local HCA office who will assist you in being work-ready before you leave for Australia).
- To qualify for this incentive the claimant must work for HCA as an Agency Registered Nurse, anywhere across Australia for a minimum of 500 hours within a 6-month period, completing your first shift for HCA by 23:59 AEST 31st March 2024. The claimant must complete the 500 hours within 6 months of their first shift(before the 31st December 2023) or 600 hours in 6 months (after the 1st January 2024) date with HCA.
- The flight booked to Australia must also be within the dates of the incentive and in the name of the claimant.
- To be eligible for flight reimbursement the claimant must work their first shift within 6 months of the flight arriving in Australia.
- On completion of the 500 hours (before the 31st December 2023) or 600 hours in 6 months (from 1st January 2024) , the claimant must contact their local HCA office with the booking details and receipt of the flight they took to Australia.
- Once all documentation has been received and approved by HCA, the claimant will be reimbursed for their flight to Australia up to a value of $1,000 AUD within 30 business days.
- All documentation must be within the dates of the incentive and in the name of the claimant in order to participate in the incentive.
- Claims can be submitted until 23:59 AEST 31st March 2024, however, all documentation for the claim must be within the dates of the incentive.
- For a one-way ticket, the claimant will be reimbursed up to the value of $1,000 AUD towards the flight cost.
- For a return ticket, half of the total ticket cost will be reimbursed up to the value of $1,000 AUD towards the flight cost.
- For any other type of ticket, the claimant will be reimbursed up to the value of $750 AUD towards the flight cost.
- Healthcare Australia has no obligation to claimants who do not comply with these terms and conditions or to any claimant who does not adhere to the dates of the incentive.
- Candidates who utilise airline/travel/bank/rewards points for travel bookings related to placements will not be eligible to claim (eg. Qantas Frequent Flyer, NZ Air Points, Flybuys points)
One claim per person. This incentive cannot be combined with any other incentive or offer run by HCA with the exception of the ‘Refer a friend’ & HCA National Rewards Program.
