Mental Health Nurses – Community Roles Across Australia

About the Role: Working in a multidisciplinary team, you’ll provide holistic, recovery-focused mental health care within the community. Every day will be varied and meaningful, with opportunities to
Conduct face-to-face and telephone assessments, including AOD screening
Triage, complete risk assessments, and respond in both community and acute settings (e.g. ED)
Develop and implement safety and recovery plans
Provide psychoeducation, support, and referrals for clients and families
Manage mental health crises using de-escalation and aggression management techniques
Work collaboratively with GPs, case managers, and allied health professionals
What You’ll Need:
Current AHPRA registration (Division 1)
2+ years’ experience in mental health nursing
Current work in a community mental health setting
Strong assessment, triage, and safety planning skills
Understanding of the Mental Health Act and relevant legislation
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Driver’s licence (for community outreach)
Desirable:
Postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing
Experience with EMRs (CIMHA, CHIME, or similar)
