HCA Home Care provides services under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP), supporting older Australians who need a little extra help to continue living independently at home. 

CHSP is an entry-level, government-funded program designed to provide basic support services for those with lower-level care needs.

What is CHSP?

The CHSP provides practical, low-level support to help you remain safe, independent and connected to your community. 

It is typically suited to people who: 

  • Need assistance with a small number of daily tasks 
  • Require short-term or ongoing basic support 
  • Want to maintain independence at home 

Most people accessing CHSP receive one or two services per week, depending on their needs.

What Services are Available? 

CHSP funding can be used for a range of essential support services, which are designed to support independence and delay the need for more intensive care. 

These services include: 

Domestic assistance (cleaning, laundry)
Meal preparation and nutrition support
Transport and social support
Personal care (showering, dressing)
Allied health and basic clinical services
Respite support for carers

How is CHSP Different?

CHSP is different to Home Care Packages / Support at Home:

  • Lower level of support (entry-level care) 
  • Typically fewer services 
  • Government-subsidised with a small client contribution 
  • Delivered through approved local providers 

For individuals with higher or ongoing care needs, a Home Care Package/Support at Home may be more suitable.

    You select a provider like HCA Home Care to deliver your services.
