Darwin’s culinary scene is heavily influenced by its multicultural population. Laksa quickly became a favourite of Ciara’s, with local gems like Mary’s Laksa and Laksa House not to be missed. After a day of exploring, Darwin’s nightlife didn’t disappoint. “Mitchell Street is packed with bars, and Shenanigans became a regular spot,” she recalls. For something more relaxed, the deckchair outdoor cinema was the perfect way to wind down under the stars.

She also took steps to integrate into the local community, purchasing a bike from a nearby bike orphanage. “Commutes were just a quick ride away, but make sure to plan around the midday heat,” she advises.
