Our client is seeking an exceptional Director of Nursing to lead a vital rural healthcare service delivering emergency, inpatient and community-based healthcare to the region.

This is not a role where you’ll be removed from the clinical realities of healthcare. Instead, you’ll lead from the front, supporting your teams, shaping service delivery, driving quality outcomes, and making a lasting difference to the health and wellbeing of the local community.

As the senior leader on site, you’ll oversee the operational, financial and clinical performance of the facility while also providing leadership across community and outreach services, including a nurse-led primary healthcare clinic servicing the wider region.

About the Role
 
You will provide strategic and operational leadership for a small rural hospital and associated community health services.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Clinical governance and patient safety (NSQHS)
  • Workforce leadership, recruitment and retention
  • Financial and operational management
  • Service planning and continuous improvement
  • Community and stakeholder engagement
  • Oversight of nursing, administration and operational teams
  • Leadership of a nurse-led primary healthcare clinic and selected community health services
  • Participation in a shared on-call leadership roster

The role is highly operational and would suit a leader who enjoys being visible, accessible and actively involved in supporting frontline healthcare delivery.
 
About You
 
We are seeking an experienced nursing leader who brings:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Strong leadership experience within rural and remote healthcare settings
  • Experience in Emergency, Acute Care, ICU and/or Rural Generalist Nursing environments
  • Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong clinical governance and operational management capability
  • A commitment to building positive workplace culture and delivering exceptional patient outcomes

Candidates seeking progression into their first Director of Nursing position may also be considered where they can demonstrate strong rural leadership experience, leadership capability and clinical credibility.
