An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced leader to join a growing Early Phase Unit as Director of Project Delivery. This is a pivotal role focused on driving scale, strengthening delivery capability, and supporting the continued growth of a high-performing clinical research/trials environment.
You will play a key role in shaping and optimising project delivery across a diverse portfolio of studies, working closely with senior leadership to ensure operational excellence, financial performance, and sponsor satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and integrate internal and external Project Management functions, establishing consistent governance, reporting standards, and scalable delivery practices
- Oversee delivery performance across all studies, ensuring timelines, budgets, and sponsor expectations are effectively managed, with risks proactively identified and escalated
- Drive financial discipline across projects, including forecasting, scope management, change control, and resource planning
- Provide clear visibility of study status, financial performance, and delivery risks to senior leadership
- Partner closely with cross-functional teams including Clinical, Medical, Laboratory, Quality Assurance, and Business Development to ensure seamless and compliant execution
- Support feasibility and successful onboarding of new study opportunities
- Build and develop a high-performing delivery function, fostering accountability, capability uplift, and a strong sponsor-focused culture
About You
- Proven Healthcare leadership experience within project delivery, operations, or program management environments
- Strong exposure to healthcare is essential, with Clinical Trials experience highly regarded
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, forecasting, and performance outcomes
- A hands-on, adaptable leader who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Confident engaging with senior stakeholders and driving cross-functional collaboration
- Experience in leading and developing high-performing project teams
- Managing clinical trials within a Contract Resource Organisation, early phase unit or Pharmaceutical/biotech environment
- Strong working knowledge of ICH-GCP and regulatory expectations
