HCA delivers Primary Healthcare services across Australia’s Immigration Detention Network (IDN). Our multidisciplinary teams provide comprehensive primary care services such as health assessments, chronic disease management, wound care, immunisations and health promotion.
We also operate a 24/7 Virtual Care Centre, delivering telehealth and video consultations to support and enhance onsite clinical services across the network.
As our Head of Medical Services, you will:
- Provide clinical leadership and governance oversight across IDN Primary Healthcare Services, ensuring safe, effective and compliant care delivery
- Lead Clinical Leads across Psychiatry, AOD, General Practice, Nursing, Pharmacy and Medical Escorts to ensure consistent service standards across all sites
- Ensure services meet contractual, legislative and accreditation requirements including KPIs, Statements of Work and reporting obligations
- Drive continuous improvement through clinical outcomes, incident reviews, audits and stakeholder feedback
- Act as senior medical advisor to executive leadership and represent HCA in external clinical forums

This role suits an experienced Medical Practitioner with (or working towards) Fellowship with RACGP, ACRRM or FRACMA and 10+ years’ experience in General Practice, Emergency Medicine, or Rural and Remote Medicine.
You bring strong clinical judgement, leadership and supervision capability, and are confident working in complex, high-pressure environments with a range of stakeholders.
You have experience in clinical governance, quality improvement and incident management, along with a sound understanding of accreditation standards. Exposure to vulnerable populations is highly regarded, as is experience in aviation medicine, service development or workforce planning.
