We are seeking a skilled and motivated Scrub Scout to join our Operating Theatre team on a permanent basis. This role is essential in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality perioperative care across a range of surgical specialties. You will work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, and the wider perioperative team in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform scrub and scout duties in accordance with best practice and infection control standards
Prepare operating theatres, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures
Anticipate surgical team needs and provide appropriate instruments and supplies
Maintain accurate surgical counts and documentation
Ensure patient safety, dignity, and comfort at all times
Participate in theatre cleaning and restocking between cases
Essential Criteria
Registered Nurse
AHPRA
Recent experience as a Scrub Scout in an operating theatre
Sound knowledge of aseptic technique and infection control principles
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure
Desirable Criteria
Experience across multiple surgical specialties
Postgraduate perioperative qualification
Flexibility to work rotating shifts or on-call rosters
