  • hourly base salary from $62 RN3.1 – $71 RN3.4 per hour depending on experience

Our client is a well-established private healthcare provider seeking an experienced Nurse Unit Manager – Perioperative Services (RN3) to lead the clinical and operational performance of a busy theatre suite.

Reporting directly to the Director of Nursing, this senior leadership opportunity is ideal for a passionate perioperative professional who thrives on leading teams, improving operational performance, and delivering exceptional patient outcomes.

About the Opportunity

As the Clinical Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across the perioperative department including Anaesthetics ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient and high-quality care. You will oversee theatre operations, support and develop multidisciplinary teams, drive quality initiatives, and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
 
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership

  • Lead the day-to-day management of the perioperative department, ensuring efficient theatre utilisation and patient flow.
  • Manage workforce planning, rostering, resource allocation and theatre scheduling to maximise operational performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity and enhance service delivery.

Clinical Leadership

  • Inspire, mentor and support teams across scrub/scout, anaesthetic and procedure room services.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, performance management and professional development initiatives.
  • Foster a culture built on accountability, collaboration, clinical excellence and continuous learning.

Clinical Governance & Quality

  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control practices, sterilisation requirements, ACORN Standards and the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards.
  • Lead quality improvement projects and accreditation activities.
  • Promote best practice in patient safety, risk management and clinical governance.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Develop strong collaborative relationships with surgeons, anaesthetists, visiting medical officers and executive leadership.
  • Contribute to service development initiatives that enhance patient experience and support organisational growth.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications.
  • Proven leadership experience within perioperative services.
  • Strong understanding of ACORN Standards, NSQHS Standards and clinical governance frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage operational performance and deliver positive clinical outcomes.
  • A commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and staff development.
  • Current National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain).
