In December 2024, we began providing health, mental health, and wellbeing services across the onshore Immigration Detention network. Our team of nurses, general practitioners, and allied health professionals offer a range of healthcare services, including health assessments, chronic disease management, health promotion, wound management, immunizations, and other primary health interventions. HCA also launched a 24/7 Virtual Care Centre (VCC), offering remote healthcare through telehealth and video consultations to enhance onsite care for detainees.

As a Medical Escort Registered Nurse, you’ll provide essential clinical care and support to individuals during domestic and international transfers, ensuring their safety, wellbeing and dignity throughout the journey.
This is a unique opportunity for experienced Registered Nurses who enjoy variety, are confident working independently and are flexible to travel at short notice.

Let’s talk about you!
We’re looking for experienced and adaptable Registered Nurses with current unrestricted AHPRA registration and a minimum of 5 years’ post-registration nursing experience. Experience in Emergency Department (ED), ICU or acute care settings is highly regarded.
You’ll need to be an Australian citizen with a valid Australian passport (minimum 6 months’ validity) and be flexible to travel domestically and internationally at short notice, with availability to undertake ideally one medical escort assignment per month, typically lasting 1- 4 days.
Previous detention or correctional healthcare experience is highly regarded but not essential.
