Locum Podiatrist

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Rural Generalist Podiatrist for a locum hospital-based role in a major regional city in South Australia, located halfway between Adelaide and Melbourne on the Limestone Coast.

This full-time position commences ASAP for 3–6 months, with the potential for extension.

Working within a multidisciplinary hospital environment, you will deliver a mix of inpatient and outpatient podiatry services to support the local community.

This role requires strong clinical autonomy, with the opportunity to support junior staff and contribute to multidisciplinary care planning. The focus is on improving mobility and independence through prevention, treatment, and management of foot and lower limb conditions.

  
Role Details

  • Location: Major regional city, South Australia (Limestone Coast region)
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Duration: 3–6 months (with possible extension)
  • Hours: Monday to Friday | 38–40 hrs/week
  • Rate: Up to $85 per hour, depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver podiatry services across inpatient and outpatient hospital settings
  • Manage a rural generalist caseload including chronic disease, high-risk foot conditions, and acute presentations
  • Provide assessment, treatment planning, and ongoing management of foot and lower limb conditions
  • Work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Contribute to care planning, case conferencing, and clinical decision-making
  • Support preventative care, early intervention, and rehabilitation-focused interventions
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Provide informal supervision and support to junior staff and allied health assistants where required

To Be Successful, You Will Have

  • Bachelor of Podiatry (or equivalent)
  • Current AHPRA registration as a Podiatrist
  • Australian working rights
  • National Police Clearance
  • Strong experience in chronic disease and high-risk foot management
  • Confidence working in hospital-based inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Ability to work independently in a rural generalist capacity
  • Previous rural or regional hospital experience highly regarded
