In December 2024, we began providing health, mental health, and wellbeing services across the onshore Immigration Detention network. Our team of nurses, general practitioners, and allied health professionals offer a range of healthcare services, including health assessments, chronic disease management, health promotion, wound management, immunizations, and other primary health interventions.  HCA also launched a 24/7 Virtual Care Centre (VCC), offering remote healthcare through telehealth and video consultations to enhance onsite care for detainees.

This is a casual employment opportunity. 

Join us in bringing a new approach to medical and wellbeing care for detainees by: 

  • Providing clinical and mental health support for people in detention with mental health presentations including complexity and risk, development of mental health recovery plans, medication management, referrals and discharge planning.
  • Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, and relevant key stakeholders to facilitate the provision of coordinated mental health care and treatment.
  • Undertaking the timely completion of mental health assessments including formulation, risk assessment, psychological treatment, crisis intervention, crisis management plans, outcome measures, documentation of progress in the electronic medical record system, discharge summaries and other required documentation and activities as required. 

Let’s talk about you:

You’ll hold current AHPRA registration and relevant qualifications, with at least five years of clinical experience in Mental Health. A post-graduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing is essential, along with a strong commitment to person-centred care.
