Position Overview – More Than a Shift. A Chance to Make a Difference. As a Casual Residential Youth Worker with HCA, you’ll support children and young people living in out-of-home care, helping them feel safe, supported and valued. We’re looking for compassionate, resilient and reliable Youth Workers who can build trust, navigate challenging situations and make a positive impact.

What You’ll Do

  • Build trusted relationships and create a safe, supportive environment.
  • Support daily living, including personal care, meals and hygiene.
  • Help young people engage in school, appointments and community activities.
  • Promote emotional regulation, independence and positive social connections.
  • Administer medication and maintain accurate records.
  • Support complex behaviours using trauma-informed and TCI approaches.
  • Complete Trauma Recovery Framework and TCI training within three months.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver individual support plans.
  • Prioritise wellbeing through supervision, reflection and self-care.

What We’re Looking For We’re looking for people who bring compassion, resilience and the right attitude to every shift.
To join our team, you’ll need:

  • Certificate IV in Youth Work, Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Social Work, Disability Support Work or similar — or be studying towards one
  • Ideally 6+ months’ residential youth work experience or strong transferable skills
  • Open Australian Driver’s Licence
  • Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
  • Current First Aid & CPR
  • Police Check
  • LCS2 Check – desirable, or willingness to obtain
