Mental Health RN Team Leader

Healthcare Australia (HCA) is a major provider of healthcare services across Australia, including allied health, primary care, recruitment, NDIS, care services, and training.   

In December 2024, we began providing health, mental health, and wellbeing services across the onshore Immigration Detention network. Our team of nurses, general practitioners, and allied health professionals offer a range of healthcare services, including health assessments, chronic disease management, health promotion, wound management, immunizations, and other primary health interventions.  HCA also launched a 24/7 Virtual Care Centre (VCC), offering remote healthcare through telehealth and video consultations to enhance onsite care for detainees 

As the Mental Health RN Team Leader , you will provide clinical and operational leadership to the VCC Mental Health team, ensuring high standards of clinical practice and positive client outcomes.

You will oversee mental health intake, assessment, triage, risk management, care coordination and referral processes, while supporting the team with complex clinical presentations and escalation pathways.

You will also play a key role in staff supervision, professional development, clinical governance and continuous improvement across the service.

Monday – Friday | 9:00am – 5:00pm

Day to day!

  • Provide clinical leadership, supervision and support to the VCC Mental Health team.
  • Oversee mental health intake, assessment, triage, risk assessment and referral processes.
  • Provide clinical consultation and support for complex mental health presentations and risk escalation.
  • Lead clinical reviews, case conferences, supervision and professional development activities.
  • Monitor clinical documentation, service delivery, outcomes and compliance.
  • Support effective referral pathways across internal and external mental health services.
  • Build strong relationships with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, policy development and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promote evidence-based, culturally responsive and person-centred mental health care.

Lets talk about you! 

You will have current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1), a relevant postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing or a related discipline, a minimum of 5 years’ clinical experience including significant mental health experience, experience in mental health intake, triage, crisis intervention or care coordination, and experience leading, supervising or mentoring clinical teams. You will also have strong clinical judgement, risk assessment, escalation, communication and problem-solving skills, with knowledge of mental health referral pathways and clinical governance. Experience in virtual care or telehealth is desirable.
