Quality Manager – Residential Aged Care | Mackay

About Our Client

Our client provides residential aged care in Mackay, with a focus on personalised care, resident choice and wellbeing. Their homes offer welcoming environments where older people can maintain connections and receive care that responds to their individual needs.
Healthcare Australia is recruiting a full-time Quality Manager to strengthen clinical governance, quality improvement and compliance across two residential aged care homes.

About the Role

Reporting to the CEO and Operations Manager, you will work alongside clinical and operational leaders to turn audit findings, clinical data and resident feedback into practical improvements.
This is an opportunity to influence care across both homes, coach teams and strengthen the systems that support safe, person-centred care. Preparing for upcoming accreditation will be a key priority, alongside embedding improvements that last beyond the assessment process.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Strengthening clinical governance and monitoring quality and compliance across both homes.
  • Coordinating accreditation preparation, audit evidence and corrective action plans.
  • Conducting clinical audits covering medication management, infection prevention, care planning, falls and wound management.
  • Analysing clinical indicators and quality data to identify risks and improvement priorities.
  • Supporting incident investigations, SIRS processes, root cause analysis and risk mitigation.
  • Turning complaints and resident feedback into measurable service improvements.
  • Reviewing policies and procedures and helping teams apply them consistently.
  • Coaching staff in clinical governance, quality improvement and compliance.
  • Preparing clear quality and risk reports for executive leadership, governance committees and the Board.

About You

You are a Registered Nurse who can identify where care systems need to improve and work constructively with others to make those improvements happen. You combine clinical judgement with strong analytical skills and a practical approach to supporting staff.

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • At least three years’ experience in aged care, healthcare quality, clinical governance or compliance.
  • Knowledge of the Aged Care Quality Standards and relevant aged care legislation.
  • Experience in clinical auditing, quality improvement, accreditation preparation and compliance monitoring.
  • Strong understanding of clinical risk management and incident investigation.
  • Strong communication, reporting and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with quality management systems and digital reporting tools.
  • A current National Police Check.

Desirable experience and qualifications:

Qualifications in quality management, clinical governance or health management; Lead Auditor qualifications; training in root cause analysis or human factors; and experience with residential aged care accreditation, SIRS and restrictive practices.
This opportunity may suit an experienced Quality Manager, Clinical Quality Advisor or Clinical Governance professional with the required nursing registration and experience.
