Reasons To Consider Home Care

At some point in our lives, we all must face the difficult decision: which type of aged care will be suitable for us or our loved ones?

People are living longer than ever before. With each generation comes innovation, major improvements in the quality and efficiency of healthcare delivery, not to mention smarter health choices. However, increasing health complications are inevitable as we age, placing pressure on loved ones emotionally and financially.

Recent reforms to address the growing ageing population in Australia have made home care unprecedentedly more affordable. Government-subsidised home care packages allow access to assistance and nursing care at home, giving over 800,000 Australian elderly the opportunity to spend their retirement in their own homes. So the question should no longer be why home care, but why not?

In Australia, over 215,000 people enter aged care annually. When considering aged care services, there are many choices and funding options available so finding the right provider to offer appropriate care and support can be difficult to find. It’s important to understand how the types of aged care differ and choose the one that is most suitable to your specific needs and circumstances.

The selection ranges from the basic home support, residential care to home care and restorative care. The majority of people narrow their choices down to residential care, where a loved one moves into a nursing home with around-the-clock care, and home care, where the care and support is provided in the comfort of their own home. Over the last decade, the demand for home care has more than quadrupled that of residential aged care. This has subsequently seen the increasing number of approved home care providers in the market.
