Healthcare Australia (HCA) is a major provider of healthcare services across Australia, including allied health, primary care, recruitment, NDIS, care services, and training.   

In December 2024, we began providing health, mental health, and wellbeing services across the onshore Immigration Detention network. Our team of nurses, general practitioners, and allied health professionals offer a range of healthcare services, including health assessments, chronic disease management, health promotion, wound management, immunizations, and other primary health interventions.  HCA also launched a 24/7 Virtual Care Centre (VCC), offering remote healthcare through telehealth and video consultations to enhance onsite care for detainees

Healthcare Australia (HCA) is looking for an experienced Primary Health Care Nurse – Clinical Team Leader to join our Primary Health Services team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse who is ready to step into a clinical leadership role, supporting the delivery of high-quality, person-centred primary health care within a complex environment.

About the role

As Clinical Team Leader, you will provide clinical and operational leadership to a multidisciplinary primary health care team, working closely with the Health Service Manager to ensure the effective delivery of safe, responsive and high-quality healthcare services.

You will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the service while providing clinical guidance, mentoring and leadership to the team.

7-day roster | AM & PM shifts

Initially rostered to AM shifts, with PM shifts introduced as required.

Day to day!

  • Provide clinical leadership and oversight to the primary health care team, ensuring safe, high-quality and person-centred care.
  • Oversee clinical assessments, care planning, referrals, documentation and day-to-day service delivery.
  • Provide clinical guidance, mentoring and professional development to support team capability and performance.
  • Manage clinical and operational risks, rosters, resources and workflow while maintaining strong clinical governance and compliance.
  • Lead multidisciplinary collaboration, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining a hands-on clinical presence as required.

Let’s talk about you!

You’re an experienced Registered Nurse with current AHPRA Division 1 registration, a relevant postgraduate qualification and at least five years’ clinical nursing experience. You have hands-on experience in an operational healthcare setting, previous clinical leadership or coordination experience, strong knowledge of contemporary primary health care, and excellent communication, problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills. You’re confident managing competing priorities, making sound clinical decisions, using clinical and Microsoft Office systems, and leading a collaborative, supportive team.
