My Top 4 Reasons for working a Permanent Nursing job
My name is Chelsea and I work for HCA as a Recruitment Consultant. For me, there is nothing more important than having a dependable and stable income, a big challenge I had to face when I moved from UK to settle in Australia.
The day I was at the airport, ready for my exciting adventure to Australia, I panicked!…I don’t have a job! Where’s the money going to come from? Where am I going to live? I started thinking about how important a permanent job is for me. That’s why I wanted to share with you, my top 4 reasons why having a Permanent role is important and things to consider when choosing your next Nursing role.
Security
There’s nothing better than knowing you have a guaranteed income to be able to pay your mortgage or rent, your phone bill, a loan against your car or your children’s education. You don’t need to ask yourself have I done enough hours this week? Do I need to save money in case I don’t get work next week? ….Phew!
Employment Entitlements
Where do I start… paid annual leave, personal/carers leave, maternity leave, having the option to salary sacrifice! Your next Permanent role could offer private health insurance, cheaper gym membership, Union advice, and in some cases, subsidised accommodation!
Culture
For me culture is key. The focus on building a great place to work, a place where people trust their colleagues, have pride in the work they do, and enjoy the people they work with, is pivotal to a productive and happy team. I speak to many Nurses daily and apart from knowing the salary, they all ask me What’s the culture like at this hospital? What are the Nurses like? Is the retention rate good?
A strong culture is one that incorporates common values and has the benefit of clear guidelines for people to follow, as they strive to achieve their shared goals. I believe a happy environment leads to a happy and successful Nursing career.
Career Progression
When we were at school, we all had ambitions to one day fly to the moon or become a footy superstar. Some of you are even lucky enough to have dreamed about being a Nurse and are living that dream right this very second. From my experience speaking with Nurses, what makes a fulfilling career is not only enjoying the work in patient care but having a supportive hospital environment for Nurses to pursue training and education.
The best part of a permanent job is having all the above.
As part of the Permanent Recruitment team here at HCA, I like to put myself in the shoes of every Nurse I speak to on a daily basis. Helping you to find the role that is the right fit for you gives me great career fulfilment.
My team and I are here to advise and guide you throughout the whole process of finding the right position. We focus on building your confidence when attending an interview and we encourage you to ask us questions that traditionally you aren’t meant to ask at interviews.
And of course, we endeavour to negotiate you the best pay and rewards for your next big adventure!
We currently have many Permanent Nursing roles available across the country. If you are interested to find out more please feel free to contact me at [email protected] or register your interest below.
