….Matthew Christensen. We caught up with Matthew to find out more about him and what he has been up to during Covid-19. Read his interview below.

Congratulations Matthew! Well done on being voted Nurse of the Year 2020 for our Queensland state.

What made you want to be mental health nurse?
I always had a natural inclining towards becoming a mental health nurse, both my parents with mental health nurses and even through school I want to help others. 

What is the best part of being HCA nurse?
Just the excitement of not knowing what each day will entail for you, going to different ward environments and looking after different variety of patients. The teams at HCA & the different hospitals are amazing to work with. 

How have you been filling your spare time during Covid?
I have been spending time with my fianc√©, renovating our house & planning our wedding. 

Tell us a joke?
Why is the pirate a pirate? Because they aarrgghh. 

What is your favourite place to travel?
I love travelling to New Zealand, but I want to go to Paris & Italy next

What’s your favourite snack? 
Unguarded brownies in the nursing station. 

What is your favourite drink?
Coffee 

What is your favourite sport?
Snooker

What are you currently reading?
I’m currently reading the Seveneves by Stephen Nelson 

What are you currently listening to?
Whatever is on the radio. Foo Fighters are my favourite. 

What are you currently watching? 
I’ve been doing a Harry Potter marathon on my days off.
