National Aged Care Day
National Aged Care Day celebrates those who contribute to helping the elderly, whether as a support worker, nurse, family member or volunteer carer. We acknowledge the hard work that goes in each and every day to help make people’s lives a little more comfortable and healthier as they age.
Last week, the HCA Home team in each state showed their appreciation to those working in aged care by visiting various facilities and hosting morning teas.
Our VIC team travelled to Sandringham, Forest Hill, Camberwell, Kew, Camberwell, Hampton and Doncaster. They visited over six facilities to personally thank the personal care assistants and presented them with chocolates, coffee mugs and other gifts.

In WA, we held an appreciation morning tea for all our staff who work in aged care, including aged care facilities, in-home support workers and home care recruiters. It was held at the office and was a great opportunity for everyone to meet and mingle.
Our home care support workers and specialist staff said they enjoy working with us and see the benefits of HCA Home’s person-centred approach. We understand how important it is for both our customers and staff to feel comfortable. That’s why we make it our priority to find the right fit, particularly language and interests, so there is common ground from the very start.
The event prompted many of our aged care facility staff to voice their interest in moving into the home care space, where having 1-on-1 time with customers seemed to be the key driving factor. All our staff seek to have a positive impact on both customer and family whilst they walk through life ending circumstances. Knowing the challenges that comes with this incredibly rewarding line of work, we provide staff access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provider and reiterated this at the event.

In the past week, our SA team travelled across Adelaide to over fifteen facilities. They greeted our aged care staff with a variety of morning tea and afternoon tea options as an expression of thanks. They went to Myrtle Bank, Magill, Paradise, Kensington, Westbourne Park and Marion.
